Coffee defects kit

FlavorActiv references for recognising the defects of coffee.

125 USD

Six FlavorActiv reference standards for coffee defects, individually blister-packed, with a lexicon card.

What is in it. O-cresol, for phenolic. Acetaldehyde, for peapod. Acetic acid. Geosmin, for musty. Trans-2-nonenal, for papery. And 2-isopropyl-3-methoxypyrazine, for potato skin.

What it is for. Recognising a defect is the step before correcting it. If nobody on the panel knows what it smells like, the process gets fixed blind.

They are used in the sensory workshops, and also sold on their own.

125 USD.
